Reflecting on Becoming a Parent (Again...)
Once again I'm taking a break from the business of the world and work life to pause and rejoice: I have become a father again. It feels like yesterday since I last wrote about becoming a father for the first time. Praise God — last week my wife and I welcomed our second child into the world. I am now the proud father of two boys under three.
So far, adjusting from one child to two has been much easier than I thought. It's surprising how quickly you recall everything you need to know about having a newborn. The only big difference is you now have a toddler to look after, which makes things a little more complicated — especially when it comes to routines. When we became parents for the first time, it all felt so new: sleepless nights, nappy changes, and so on. Our world was literally turned upside down (for the better). But this time, it feels like the baby adjusts to our toddler's schedule.
Becoming a parent is amazing. I have enjoyed every minute of watching my first child grow. Seeing a child develop first hand is such a privilege and nothing in the world can truly match it. While I'm sure the transition from one to two children will have its ups and downs, I'm looking forward to what lies ahead for both my boys as they grow together.
