Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on just how generous God has been to us this year, and I felt compelled to write this blog post. In the busyness of life, sometimes we can forget to press pause on our lives and look at how God has blessed us in so many different ways that we might have forgotten about.

The short summary, for those of you who are unfamiliar with my situation: I started this year (January 2026) facing the serious reality of job loss and entering the world of financial uncertainty as my second child was on the way, followed by the prospect of having to remortgage in the near future.

Our family prepared for every possible worst-case scenario, including taking a minimum-wage job, my wife returning to work full-time, and selling our house and living with family.

Thankfully, thanks to God's goodness, none of that happened.

As of this writing (October 2026), I have started a permanent job in the UK Civil Service as a data scientist - a career I have wanted to break into for some time now. This was followed by the invitation to take up some additional freelance work on the side to supplement my income.

During this time of great uncertainty, I continued to reflect on Bible passages such as Matthew 6, where Jesus himself reminds us in verse 34 to "not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." It's a passage I'm sure any well-rooted Christian is familiar with - it's a passage of great comfort and encouragement. But my favourite part comes in verse 32, where Jesus reminds us that he knows our deepest needs. "For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them."

He knows every one of our needs. It's incredibly reassuring to know that those who are in Jesus have a sure and certain home that can never be moved. He is our rock when all around us appears to fall and fail.
